sun pours in the kitchen window,
cheese grater explodes with light,
small stone becomes my guide.

the emptied scyamore, swaying with grace;
"there there...there there..."

camphor, cassia, cajaput, mint and olive oils are my allies tonight.
the sun sets,
the wind howls,
and the magic unguent sings through the epidermis.

sweet spice and rind of orange

co-mingle with boiling water

several sips taken

tea merges with hot flash,

how timely

driving west on 285, headed towards the setting sun,
wrapped in the power of the Ortiz and Sangre de Christo's;
reverie

posse of starlings carried on the breath of wind from aspen to sycamore to juniper;
and the chimes provide the melody.

some days,
the wren brings the stone
to your door.
